Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
