In a surprising collaboration that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Revealed

According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret sect.

The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The trailer features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Newest Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's latest free story content, titled "The Mystery." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This marks not the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that unmistakably nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
